Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) apply when you use StarTurn at starturn.app (the “Service”). Please read them together with our Privacy Policy, Refund Policy and Content Policy, which are part of these Terms.

1. Acceptance of terms

By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, don’t use the Service.

You must be 18 or older to use the Service. If you use it on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you’re allowed to accept these Terms for that organization.

2. The service

StarTurn uses AI to make short videos from photos you upload. Each video follows a template inspired by a trend on social media, such as TikTok.

This is how it works:

You choose a template and upload the photos it asks for: up to 4, with one person or one pet in each.
We check every photo automatically before it can be used.
Before every video, you confirm that everyone in the photos agreed and is an adult, or that the photo shows your own pet (section 4).
AI models make a new video from your photos and the template’s written description of the scene.

Every video:

Has no sound and never includes the trend’s song. You can add a sound when you post it, for example on TikTok.
Is newly made. We don’t use the trend’s original video, and we don’t copy movement from it.
Comes from a template that is only inspired by the trend. StarTurn is not affiliated with TikTok or with the trend’s original creators, performers or rights holders.

AI results vary. A video may not turn out the way you expect, and the people or pets in it may not look exactly like your photos.

We may add, change or retire templates. We may also pause video making for a while, for example when a daily limit is reached.

3. Accounts

You can upload photos without an account, but you need one to make a video or buy credits.

You log in with a link we email you or with your Google account. We don’t use passwords. A login link works once and expires after 15 minutes. You stay logged in on a device for up to 30 days, or until you log out.

Anyone who can read your email can log in to your account, so keep your email account and your Google account secure. You’re responsible for what happens under your account. If you think someone else has used it, tell us at hello@starturn.app.

You may upload photos of yourself, of other adults who agreed to be in the video, and of your own pets. The Content Policy explains what is and isn’t allowed.

Before every video, you tick a box to confirm one of these statements:

For people: “Everyone in these photos is 18 or older and agreed to be in this video.”
For templates that use only pet photos: “This photo is of my own pet, with no people in it.”

By ticking the box, you also confirm that you have the right to use each photo. We keep a record of every confirmation, as our Privacy Policy describes.

You keep any rights you have in your photos. You allow us to store and check them, to send them to the service providers that check them and make the video, and to use them in other ways only as needed to make and deliver your video. We delete your photos when the video is finished or fails, and no later than 24 hours after you upload them.

5. Your videos

We don’t claim ownership of the videos you make. You can download, keep and share them, as long as you follow these Terms and the Content Policy. You’re responsible for how you use and share them, including respecting the rights and wishes of the people in them.

Videos are made by AI. Each video file includes a machine-readable label that marks it as made with AI. When you post one, follow the platform’s rules for AI-generated content. TikTok, for example, asks creators to label realistic AI-generated content. Don’t use a video to make people think it is real footage, or that the trend’s original creator made it.

The same template can produce similar videos for different users. We don’t promise that a video is unique.

We keep each video for 30 days after it’s made, and then delete it. You can delete a video sooner from its page. We may also remove a video when we accept a removal request about it, or when it breaks these Terms. Download any video you want to keep.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Upload photos of anyone under 18, of anyone who didn’t agree to be in the video, or of celebrities and other public figures
Upload nudity, sexual content, violence, hateful content or anything else the Content Policy doesn’t allow
Use a video to harass, threaten, bully, defame or impersonate anyone, or to deceive people, for example as fake evidence or in a scam
Upload photos or make videos that infringe someone else’s rights, such as images of copyrighted characters or photos you aren’t allowed to use
Try to get around our photo checks or the AI model’s safety filter
Use bots, scrapers or other automated means to access the Service
Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure, or try to reverse-engineer it
Resell, redistribute or sublicense access to the Service

We may refuse photos, stop or delete videos, and suspend or close accounts that break these rules, as section 11 explains.

7. Credits and payment

You need credits to make a video. You buy them in credit packs. The Pricing page shows each pack’s price, how many credits it gives and how many credits a video costs, and the checkout shows the price again before you pay.

Lemon Squeezy is the merchant of record for all purchases. It processes your payment and handles sales tax and invoices. Any refund of money is paid through Lemon Squeezy.

How credits work:

When you start a video, we set its credits aside. They are used when the video is finished.
If the video fails or the AI model turns it down, the credits go back to your balance automatically.
Credits never expire.
Credits belong to your account. You can use them only on StarTurn, and you can’t move them to another account.

We may change prices, packs and the number of credits a video costs. A change applies from the time it is shown on the Service, and it doesn’t remove credits that are already in your balance.

Refunds are covered by our Refund Policy.

8. Intellectual property

The Service, including its design, code, templates, text and brand, belongs to us or our licensors. You may not copy, change or distribute any part of the Service itself.

Trend names, songs and original videos belong to their owners. Naming a trend doesn’t mean its creators or owners endorse StarTurn.

If you believe something on StarTurn infringes your rights, write to us at hello@starturn.app. If a video shows you and you didn’t agree to it, use the removal request form.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don’t promise that:

The Service will be uninterrupted, secure or free of errors
Every video will be made, or made within a certain time
A video will look the way you expect or suit any particular purpose
The Service will be available at all times or in every location

AI models can produce unexpected, inaccurate or unsuitable results.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, StarTurn is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, use or goodwill, that results from:

Your use of, or inability to use, the Service
A video you make, share or post, and how other people react to it
Unauthorized access to, or changes to, your data
The conduct of any third party, including the platforms where you post videos

In no event will our total liability exceed the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months before the event that led to the claim.

11. Suspension and termination

You can stop using the Service at any time. To delete your account, email us at hello@starturn.app from the address you log in with. Our Privacy Policy explains what we delete and what we keep.

We may suspend or close your account at any time, without notice and without liability, if we reasonably believe you broke these Terms or the Content Policy. While your account is suspended, you can’t log in, make videos or use the credits in it. We don’t refund credits in an account that we suspend or close for breaking these Terms or the Content Policy.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. If a change is material, we tell you by email (if you have an account) or with a notice on the Service.

If you keep using the Service after a change takes effect, you accept the updated Terms.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by applicable law. If a dispute about these Terms or the Service comes up, we will first try to resolve it through good-faith negotiation. If that fails, the dispute goes to binding arbitration or to the courts of competent jurisdiction.
